Earlier on July 3, the national capital witnessed a pleasant afternoon as there were rains in various parts of the city. The rainfall reduced the temperature to several degrees which provided relief to the people.
Secretary of Ministry of Earth Sciences, M Rajeevan, stated that after a break, the Southwest Monsoon is ready to hit again with an active phase as the weather forecast shows increasing rainfall from July 8.
The Met department also disclosed that the northern limit of the southwest monsoon is currently passing over Aligarh, Meerut, Ambala and Amritsar.
The IMD stated, “Prevailing meteorological conditions, large scale atmospheric features and the forecast wind pattern by dynamical models suggest that no favourable conditions are likely to develop further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and Punjab during next 4-5 days”.
