Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced a weekend curfew in owing to the surging covid cases in the last few days in the national capital.
The announcement comes after Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal met Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today to discuss the city’s Covid-19 situation.
“We need to do something urgently to control the spike in Covid cases. For this, we have taken the decision that there will be a weekend curfew in Delhi. However, let me make it clear, that essential services and those – whose marriage dates and venues are fixed – will be issued special passes,” the Chief Minister said.

Delhi on Thursday reported 17,282 fresh cases, the highest single-day spike the national Capital has seen so far. The number of daily Covid deaths has also been increasing, with 104 deaths recorded on Wednesday alone.

Here’s a list of what’s allowed and what’s not amid the weekend curfew in Delhi:
1. Only essential services to operate
2. Curfew passes for marriages and other permitted activities
3. Gym, pools, malls, to be closed
4. Cinema halls allowed at 30 percent capacity
5. 1 weekly market allowed per day per zone
6. Only Take-aways; No Dine in restaurants
