In last few years, India has been seeing governments having their own preferred set of so called independent private media channels. These channels carry the respective agendas brazenly and in return governments pay them through advertisements/ recognitions etc.
These days news platforms are openly taking sides and so are parties and governments. In effects media is becoming part of political system and the so called Media “The Fourth Pillar” has been subsumed by Politics. Journalists have almost become paid party members.
Opindia.com puts UP Govt ADS without landing pages
While surfing through various news portals for this story, we found that Opindia.com is running UP Government advertisements without Landing Pages. No purpose is being served by these advertisements and public money (UP Government) is flowing to Opindia.com
Opindia.com openly carries the BJP agenda and does not hide it and in return UP BJP Government is paying it through advertisements. It is no surprise these days as Congress governments do the same with TheWire.in and other portals. These days it is happening so openly.
The only problem is that neither Opindia.com not UP government bothered to check for the landing pages, which gives an impression that purpose of these ads is not to actually reach out to people, but it is only to find a way to pay Opindia.com.
You may visit www.Opindia.com and on home page on the top you find the advertisement band for UP Government. When you click it, you land on UP Government page http://information.up.gov.in/en which is not working.
At least there should be some purpose behind putting these advertisements. Public money is getting wasted.
It may also be noted that UP Government does not bother to even implement SSL security for its main portal http://up.gov.in/ which shows up as unsecured but it has wherewithal to make advertisements in Opindia.com without landing pages and make payments. This does not auger well for the country or for UP.
if the UP government and Opindia.com take note of above points and make corrections, purpose of this article will get served.
